I'M A PIRATE!!!!!
You know what!? Spotify and their missing tracks/albums and regionalization can go kick rocks! I'm THIS close to getting myself an MP3 player again. I already started looking up options, and let me tell you, my disappointment that the Sandisk Sansa is no longer in production is immeasurable. What!! Are you telling me I need to console myself with, of all things, an APPLE IPOD!?!?!? Is this amateur hour!?
Now that I've calmed down after my daily dose of Two Minutes Hate, I will sort out my thoughts.
I vaguely recall downloading files from p2p filesharing programs during undergrad. Somehow, I don't recall using Napster. I THINK I used WinMX. There was also that one amazing day that someone turned on network sharing on their iTunes, and I was able to download their massive library via dorm intranet. I remember sorting through my new folders and feeling the thrill of having ALLLLLL the Christina Aguilera albumsđź’– and then deleting the irrelevant stuff like Nickelback (ew?). I probably still have the files somewhere.
Okay, so! Listen! Get Nicotine+ to browse through Soulseek, register with a username and password, and sail the high seas of 320 kbps MP3/FLAC! Feel the thrill of stumbling across a user's folders that show pretty much all the music you enjoy - surely these other albums in the directory could be just as interesting? Instead of Spotify's free-for-all, you now have a curated collection (because nobody has unlimited storage) that someone cared enough to download and then make available to others. Download away!
I leave you with a screenshot of my questionable music taste.
